Waterways Project:  Vivien Blackburn

research

A current project that I am working on in between other work is the local waterways - the county is divided in two by the River Soar, which has lots of small tributaries and constantly criss crosses the canal (which goes all the way down to London), sometimes they run parallel, sometimes merge and often there is a weir between them, replenishing the water in the canal.  There are also pools where there were old slate quarries and small reservoirs.

Researching areas on the internet has thrown up all sorts of interesting facts, which may eventually be woven into the finished pieces.   At the moment the whole thing is in the research phase.
